Durst’s Tau 330E is a digital UV inkjet label press printing 8-in. or
13-in. widths in four or five colors at speeds of up to 157 fpm and res-
olution of up to 1,260 dpi. Durst is integrating the Tau 330 with near
line prepress and postpress finishing solutions in cooperation with
Omet—rendering it a hybrid press.
Edale manufactures the highly versatile FL range of modular flexo
presses, from 13-in. to 30-in., which are capable of handling substrates
from 12-μ. film to 600-μ. board for producing a variety of value added
applications, from labels and tags, to single pass cartons and scratch
cards. The sophisticated presses have a global reputation for delivering
high levels of accuracy and productivity, and are highly customizable
to allow companies to specify a press configuration and ink type to
suit their budget and precise production needs.
EFI’s Jetrion 4950LXe LED inkjet narrow web label press helps custom-
ers create new opportunities with its expanded capabilities. Converters
can extend their food packaging applications into digital label produc-
tion, thanks to the press’ new low migration ink for non food contact
surface production. The press also offers a higher, 720 dpi by 1,260 dpi
resolution for even better print quality, and increased durability and
gloss level control using EFI Armor UVF and UVR coatings.
EFI’s Packaging Suite takes job specifications from the core Radius
ERP solution and runs them through Esko’s Automation Engine and
EFI’s Fiery XB DFE platform. Using this workflow, converters will
be able to automatically populate the print queue on new, ultra high
speed inkjet packaging presses, saving valuable prep time.
Epson’s SurePress L single pass industrial press uses PrecisionCore
linehead technology and low migration UV LED curing ink in deliv-
ering precise quality, reliability and performance to label converters.
Fujifilm’s Graphium is a modular hybrid UV inkjet press that pro-
vides the flexibility and productivity to print any number of complex
projects requiring a wide gamut of colors on virtually any substrate.
Graphium makes converting short to medium print jobs more profit-
able. The press streamlines workflow, requires less setup material and
generates less running waste. The company says it is one of the only
modular digital inkjet presses that enables the integration of flexo and
converting stations for hybrid production and conversion in a single
pass—greatly expanding the opportunities that can be converted.
INX International’s NW210 inkjet UV digital narrow press with UV
LED advance curing technology is said to deliver single pass output
up to 80 fpm on any label stock. It combines printing and converting
functions to produce vivid color printed labels at a maximum printing
width of 8.27-in. It comes equipped with a Spartanics laser diecutting
station and Xaar patented technology, with multiple drop sizes and
color ink channels.
Konica Minolta’s bizhub PRESS C71cf is a digital press specifically
designed for narrow web applications. It allows for personalization,
handling multiple SKUs, shortening lead times and improved consis-
tency. The bizhub PRESS C71cf uses dry toner electrophotography,
prints full CMYK color, supports 1,200 dpi by 1,200 dpi, and has a
maximum printing size of 47-in. by 12.5-in. The engine will support a
maximum paper width of approximately 13-in. Feeding speeds range
from 31 fpm to 62 fpm. Variable data printing is supported and both
the PPML and PDF/VT formats (PDF/VT requires an available APPE
option). Print substrates include pressure sensitive paper in gloss,
semi gloss or matte finishes, wine stocks, white biaxially oriented
polypropylene (BOPP) and polypropylene (PP) in matte or gloss.
Mark Andy introduced its latest Performance Series press, supporting
the high speed, narrow web flexible packaging market. It features web
handling and motion control improvements, a new inline, solvent free
lamination process, higher irradiance ProLED curing, improved er-
gonomics and controls, better register, more value added automation
and greater reliability.
Digital One, a new entry level digital printing and converting label
press, is designed to print short run prime labels with inline convert-
ing at an unprecedented low investment level. The all in one press
offers 4-color CMYK digital process at a 1,200 by 1,200 dpi resolution
on a pay as you go model, combined with a single flexo station for
inline converting and decorating. The standardized configuration
features a web width of 13-in. with printing speeds reaching 63 fpm
on various substrates.
MPS brought out its latest EF fully
automated multi substrate, “future
proof ” press. It also focused on
the EF-SYMJET hybrid press, in
cooperation with Domino. EMT
and MPS partnered to introduce
the Chameleon RobustCut. It
combines quick change features
with a robust design. The modular
diecutting solution offers quick
operator friendly die exchange in
one minute or less. The RobustCut
features include side loading of
dies from a pre staged cart, elimi-
nating the requirement of hoist or
